Custom Tailoring to Make Pets Look and Feel Their Best

We groom by Breed standard or will do Custom styling to the needs of you and your Pet.

Grooming includes: nails clipped, anal glands expressed as needed, ear care, styled hair clip, bath, conditioner, hair drying, bows or bandana, treats and lots of Tender Loving Care.

We excel with timid and shy Pets but will not groom overly aggressive pets.

We do not drug Pets and will not groom pets that have been tranquilized.

We are willing to retrain pets to trust us and enjoy their grooming when they have had bad experiences in the past with other people.

We charge extra for debugging and it will not prevent the problem from re-occurring once the pet gets back home. When Bugs are a problem we recommend “FRONTLINE” from the Vet for dogs and “Advantage” for cats. Frontline is the only product we recommend for dogs because it has been proven to us that it consistently works and we have found that Advantage is better for cats.

We give the pets lots of attention and praises. We can tell that the pet feels better after a complete grooming and we have been told that they sleep well at night and love to come back.

Requirements

We require that all pets be current on all vaccinations and are in good health.

Pets that have an illness that would threaten the health of other pets are not allowed.

A pet that has matted fur must be dematted first or clipped before it is bathed. We do not just bath and leave in mats because the matting can cause the pet to develop skin sores.

When a pet is presented for grooming the first time, we will go over what the desire of the customer is for their pet and will try to accomplish the desired appearance. We will not put an animal through a procedure that we feel is unfair to the animal or will be a bad reflection on us. We welcome changes being made to the design of a clip on a returning pets coat and will try to accommodate.

Older pets with heart problems that have not been groomed on a regular basis are at risk for a stroke if they get too excited. Owners are given a standard warning that we will do everything we can do to make the grooming process a safe experience but we can’t be held responsible if the pet has a problem.

Because our grooming room is out front where all our customers come in, we can not allow any Skunked pets into our facility. Skunked pets smell worse when the sprayed spot gets wet and the aroma is so strong that it will linger in our facility for days and frighten off incoming pets. There are many remedies we have heard about and tried but time seems to be the only 100% cure. Combinations of different remedies sometimes seem to help but the smell still seems to linger, especially when the spot gets wet. We recommend that the owner locate the spot that was sprayed and put Pure Vanilla on it with a sponge.

Our Equipment

We use several styles of professional grooming tables, hair clippers, scissors, brushes, combs, matt splitters, undercoat rakes, nail clippers, and dryers. Muzzles are only used when the pet is intent on biting.

The Prima bathing system is used to thoroughly clean the pets’ coat and rinse it clean. It feels similar to a massage jet in a shower.

We have one large stand up tub for bathing and one walk in type for dogs too large to lift. Both are equipped with rubber matt’s to help keep paws from slipping.

We use stand dryers and hand held dryers for fluff drying.

We do not use enclosed cage dryers but use portable dryers with timers that are set up to blow warm air into modular units that have a raised platform installed to allow more air circulation around the pet.

We use white paper and artificial lambs wool for pets to rest on.

Dogs are offered use of our outside runs for potty breaks and the Felines are offered a litter box.

Appointments

As a rule we stay booked up with standing appointments for the year and only have occasional openings. We seldom have a cancellation so we recommend calling in advance.

Our Staff

Kay had to stop grooming in 2002  after an auto accident.

Thankfully Barbara had been trained by Kay many years prior to the accident and has continued to groom at the Pet Tailor facility.

We are blessed to have a wonderful Pet Stylist, Lora Brumbeloe, who has been with us since last year. She is a certified all breed groomer with a big heart. Lora is available Monday through Friday during our regular office hours.
